Adbi Kunj celebrates 51st foundation day

JAMMU, Oct 20: The multilingual literary organization ‘Adbi Kunj J&K Jammu’ celebrated its 51st foundation aay with great literary spirit at the Writers’ Club of the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL). The event was marked by the presence of prominent literary figures, poets, writers, singers and a large number of literature lovers.
Six noted literary bureaucrats were honoured on the occasion for their remarkable contributions to art and literature. Ashok Angu (IAS) was the chief guest of the function, was conferred with the Sh Dinu Bhai Pant Literary Award. Shailender Singh (SSP Railway) received the Dr Ved Kumari Literary Award. Pritipal Singh ‘Betab’, (Retd IAS), who presided over the function, was honoured with the O P Sharma Sarthi Literary Award. Khalid Hussain (Retd DC) was bestowed with the Sapan Mala Literary Award.
Prominent journalist and member of the Waqf Board Suhail Kazmi, was presented the Lala Mulkraj Literary Award while Nowab Din (Custodian General) received the Lifetime Achievement Award. His short story book “Paigham” was also released by the dignitaries present on the stage.
In addition to this, five distinguished writers and poets representing Urdu, Hindi, Dogri and Punjabi languages were honoured with the Sham Talib Award for their literary excellence. Those honoured include O P Shaker (Urdu Poet), Bharat Bhushan Sharma (Hindi Writer), Sushil Begana (Dogri Poet), Harjit Singh Uppal (Punjabi Poet) and Prof Mushtaq Hussain Wani (Literary Person).
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address presented by Aarsh Dalmotra, president of Adbi Kunj. Literary papers highlighting the importance and achievements of Adbi Kunj were presented by Ramesh ‘Raaz’ Kishtwari and Santosh Shah ‘Nadaan’.
The team of hosts for the event included Pyaasa Anjum, Aarsh Dalmotra, Gh Sarwar Chohan ‘Habeeb’, Santosh Shah ‘Nadaan’, M S Kaamra, Rajan Singh Rajan, Ram Krishan Aabid, K R ‘Saathi’ Salgotra, Ramesh Rahi, Rahul Armaan, Ashok Sharma ‘Paras’, Abdul Qadar Kunderia, P L Parihar, Bishan Das Khaak, Ashok Dogra Ashk, Raj Kumar Raaz, Iqbal Khullar, Vandna Bharti, Rohini Charak and Uttam Singh Rahi.
The event witnessed the participation of many eminent poets, singers and a large gathering of literature enthusiasts.
In the concluding session, Pyaasa Anjum, chairman of Adbi Kunj, presented vote of thanks.
