SHILLONG, Oct 20: Women’s Team India will face Iran and Nepal in the Tri-Nation Women’s International Friendlies 2025, scheduled to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong from October 21 to 27.
Part of the October FIFA Women’s International Match Window, the three-match series will see India, ranked 63rd in the FIFA rankings, kick off their campaign against world No. 70 Iran tomorrow.
Iran will then take on 89th-ranked Nepal on October 24, before India conclude the series against Nepal on October 27.
These friendlies form a crucial part of the Indian team’s preparations for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia. The Blue Tigresses will regroup for the first time since making history in July, when they secured qualification for the continental tournament with a win over Thailand in Chiang Mai.
Iran have also qualified for the 12-team Women’s Asian Cup, while Nepal narrowly missed out after a penalty shootout defeat to Uzbekistan. Shillong will host Team India for the second time, the first being during the 2016 South Asian Games, where India claimed the gold medal with a 4-0 victory over Nepal in the final.
