SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Police today arrested five drug peddlers, including two women, during separate operations across Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesman said that two women drug peddlers were arrested with more than 15 kg of narcotics in Shopian district. They were arrested during checking in the Melhura Zainapora area of the district.
He said 15 kg of crushed cannabis and 1 kg of charas-like substances were recovered from their possession.
“A case has been registered at Zainapora police station and further investigation is underway”.
The spokesperson said two men were arrested during a naka checking in Tulbagh area of Pampore in Pulwama district.
“Officers recovered 30 grams of charas powder from the accused, identified as Younis Nisar Joo of Wuyan and Syed Majid Altaf of Lethpora. The vehicle used in the offense was also seized,” he said.
In north Kashmir’s Sopore, police arrested Junaid Mushtaq Tabardar of Batpora Sopore during a checkpoint operation and recovered psychotropic substances, including codeine phosphate bottles and alprazolam tablets. “Cases have been registered under the relevant sections of law at the respective police stations, and investigations are underway to identify the supply chain,” the spokesperson added.
