JAMMU, Oct 24: The first day of the Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Competition for AAG Girls began today at the University of Jammu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu. Around 300 girl athletes from various Government and private schools participated in track and field events, showcasing their talent and competing for top positions in the ongoing tournament.
In the discus throw events, U-19 category gold went to Sweety Devi (Zone Marh), silver to Konika Chib (Zone RS Pura) and bronze to Renu (Zone Bishnah). U-17 winners were Nidhi Verma (Zone Satwari), Kiran Kumari (Zone Bhalwal) and Nirjala (Zone Bishnah), while U-14 category gold went to Subhana (Zone Satwari), silver to Sonakshi (Zone Miran Sahib) and bronze to Mansi (Zone Akhnoor).
In the 100m races, Damanpreet (Zone Bishnah) won U-14, Nishta Sharma (Zone Jammu) U-17, and Shivani (Zone Jammu) U-19 categories. The 400m races saw Sahiba Choudhary (Zone Dansal) win U-14, Nishta Sharma (Zone Jammu) U-17, while in 300m races, Mehak (Zone Jammu) secured U-19 gold and Sonia Choudhary (Zone Dansal) U-17 gold.
High jump winners included Shriya Bhagat (U-14, Zone Chowki Choura), Rohika Devi (U-17, Zone Chowki Choura) and Payal Kumari (U-19, Zone Chowki Choura). DYSSO Jammu and the technical officials, including Nirmal Singh, Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, Harsimran Singh and others, awarded gold, silver and bronze medals to top performers, encouraging them to compete with dedication, team spirit, and sportsmanship.
