ANANTNAG, Oct 25: As part of the ongoing road safety enforcement drive, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Mubashir Jan inspected the vehicles across the district and suspended 15 Driving Licences (DLs) under Section 19 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 for repeated and serious violations affecting road safety.
Sources informed that the ARTO conducted comprehensive vehicle inspection at multiple locations across the district during which a total of 159 vehicles were checked and several vehicles were found operating in violation of safety standards like the use of worn-out tyres, defective brakes and overloading.
Drivers were counselled on the importance of maintaining their vehicles in roadworthy condition. Vehicle owners were also advised to ensure timely replacement of tyres and adherence to all Central Motor Vehicle Rules to avoid future action.
