SHOPIAN, Oct 25: A large-scale cleanliness drive was launched at the Peer Ki Gali sector along the Mughal Road, here today.
The drive was conducted under the guardianship of the Wildlife Division Shopian, under the leadership of the Wildlife Warden Shopian.
This high-altitude realm, nestled within the Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary, is renowned not only for its exceptional scenic beauty but also for its irreplaceable ecological relevance as a vital wildlife corridor within the PirPanjal range.
The initiative served as a powerful demonstration of synergy, as diverse government agencies united for a shared environmental mission. Officers and dedicated frontline staff of the Wildlife Protection Department, personnel of the Forest Protection Force (FPF) led by the deputy Director FPF, Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Shopian, Tehsildar Shopian along with his team actively joined forces, reflecting a strong interdepartmental resolve toward preserving nature’s inherent integrity.
Special focus was laid on awareness outreach, educating commuters and visitors that nature’s magnificence can only endure when humans adopt mindful, responsible behaviour such as minimizingwaste generation, using eco-friendly alternatives, and respecting wildlife habitats.
More than one thousand kilograms of the waste was collected and removed from the PA.
The drive resonated not merely as a sanitation effort but as a renewed environmental pledge, where collaboration, community values and conservation ethics converged.
It served as a call to action for every citizen, reminding them that environmental protection is not the responsibility of the government alone, but a shared societal duty.
The Wildlife Division Shopian expressed deep appreciation to every participating officer, organization, and team member whose proactive engagement turned this initiative into a meaningful movement rather than a one-day activity.
