ANANTNAG, Oct 25: The Court of Special Judge designated under the NDPS Act at Anantnag, Manzoor Ahmad Khan today convicted the accused Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Gull Mohammad Bhat, resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, in connection with FIR No. 230/2021 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Bijbehara.
During the course of investigation, 70 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from an Alto 800 vehicle bearing registration number JK18A-1097, driven by the accused while he was proceeding from Anantnag towards Sangam.
After the trial and examination of evidence, the Court found the accused guilty of the offense. The case has been listed for October 27, 2025, for the decision on the quantum of punishment. The prosecution was represented by Senior Prosecuting Officer, Arif Majeed Romshoo, who effectively presented the case on behalf of the State.
