SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Jammu & Kashmir’s fast-bowling trio delivered a masterclass as they dismantled Rajasthan for a modest 152 in the first innings of their Ranji Trophy match at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium. Electing to bowl first on a seamer-friendly surface, J&K unleashed Auqib Nabi (3/29), Sunil Kumar (4/32) and Yudhvir Singh chipped two wickets, exploiting bounce, seam movement and swing to leave the visitors struggling. Only Mahipal Lomror (37), Kartik Sharma (32) and Deepak Chahar (23) offered any meaningful resistance.
In response, the hosts reached 66/2 in 24 overs at stumps on Day 1. Shubham Khajuria (16)* showed patience and composure, while skipper Paras Dogra (19)* guided the innings. Early wickets fell to Qamran Iqbal (24) and Yawar Hassan (1), but the pair at the crease ensured J&K avoided further collapse.
For Rajasthan, disciplined spells from Deepak Chahar and A.V. Choudhary yielded a wicket apiece, yet they struggled to contain J&K’s pacers. The match highlighted J&K’s growing fast-bowling depth and ability to exploit conditions. With eight wickets in hand and trailing by 86 runs, the hosts are well-positioned to build a strong first-innings total. Day 2 promises gripping contests between J&K’s batsmen and Rajasthan’s bowlers as both sides look to assert dominance.
