JAMMU, Oct 25: Intensifying its outreach in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, National Conference (NC) provincial leadership today held a series of public meetings across Dansal block, appealing to voters to elect Shamim Begum on the basis of the Party’s development track record and commitment to protecting the region’s unique identity.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary led the campaign, addressing enthusiastic gatherings at Panchayat Dansal, Badsoo, Kanyala (Kahpota), Kanyala (Patha), Jindrah Upper, Jindrah Market and Nagola in Dansal block. Senior party leaders including provincial president Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta, NC candidate Shamim Begum, Vijay Lochan chairman SC Cell, Rakesh Singh Raka vice president central zone and Kuldeep Sharma also addressed the public.
The leadership underlined the good governance and extensive public outreach of the Omar Abdullah-led Government, citing pro-Jammu initiatives such as the restoration of the Darbar Move and prompt administrative response during the recent calamity.
Addressing the gatherings, Surinder Choudhary said Omar Abdullah’s year-long tenure had restored people’s faith in democracy and institutions after seven years of what he termed “undemocratic and indirect rule” by the BJP. He asserted that the reopening of corridors of power to common citizens remained the biggest achievement of the present Government. Shameem’s victory will strengthen our hands,” Choudhary stated.
In his address, Rattan Lal Gupta reaffirmed the NC’s resolve to fulfill every promise in its manifesto. He said restoration of statehood tops the agenda and Jammu is witnessing significant progress with equal representation in the Cabinet.
Shamim Begum said there is a clear wave in favour of the NC in Nagrota. Highlighting the Omar Abdullah-led Government’s performance and her service as a DDC member, she urged people to support her based on her five-year record.
Among others present included Thoru Ram block president, Siraj Din block president, Ashok Singh district vice president Jammu Rural A and other party functionaries.
