Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood here at the Botanical Garden, Omar termed the outcome as unfortunate but chose not to name those responsible, saying their identities are now widely recognised.

The CM thanked the members, especially Congress, and others and didn’t name PDP for voting in favour of the NC candidates. “I am satisfied that at least not even a single vote from our party was wasted,” he said.
Omar said those who voted in favour of the BJP or wasted their votes to benefit it should have the courage to admit it publicly.
“As I have said earlier, in the end we were deceived from certain places. Those who deceived us are known to everyone. I don’t want to repeat their names here, but what happened was unfortunate,” he said.
The CM said it would have been better if those who aided the BJP had the courage to openly admit it, as MLA Handwara did.
“He did not want to cast his vote against the BJP, and now he is making videos like a professor. He must have had certain compulsions under which he didn’t want to go against the BJP and affect them,” he said.
When asked whether some MLAs helping the BJP win was a matter of concern for the NC-led Government, the CM dismissed the notion, stressing that the real concern was that who were with the Government ultimately sided with the opposition.
“That is not a concern. What is concerning is that these people stayed with us, attended our meetings, ate our food, and then sided with the BJP. They deceived us, and that is unfortunate,” he said.
Omar said nobody should complain about the 3-1 result, adding that the party had made every effort to secure a 4-0 victory.
On the issues the newly elected Rajya Sabha members from the party would raise, the CM said they would speak on every matter concerning the people, including Statehood.
“These members will speak on every issue concerning the people – not only statehood but also the resolution passed for special status, constitutional guarantees, and all other issues affecting the people of J&K,” he added.
