JAMMU, Oct 26: Promising performances with both bat and ball highlighted day one of the CK Nayudu Trophy clash between Jammu and Kashmir and Meghalaya at the JKCA Hostel Ground.
Elected to bat first, J&K posted a total of 207 runs in 49.5 overs. Mousub Mohd Bhat led the charge with a patient 46, while Aakash Ayoub Bhat and skipper Shivansh Sharma contributed 40 runs apiece. Arya Thakur (24), Arnav Gupta (17) and Praful Dhar (13) provided valuable support, helping the team reach a competitive total. Meghalaya bowlers Manish and Pranav Aggarwal were the standout performers, claiming 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
In response, Meghalaya struggled against a disciplined J&K bowling attack, ending the day at 58/7 in 38 overs. Left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar starred with 3 wickets for just 22 runs in 17 overs, while Praful Dhar spun a tight web, taking 2 wickets for 19 runs in 7 overs. Pacer duo Basit Bashir and Yasir Rasheed chipped in with a wicket each, putting the opposition under immense pressure.
