National Conference won three Rajya Sabha seats in J&K. The BJP won one seat. The NC described its win as a victory of the “policies of the Omar Abdullah Government and the rejection of what happened on August 5, 2019”, when the erstwhile State was split into two Union Territories and the special status was scrapped.
“Today’s victory is a victory of the Government policies. The BJP believes in horse trading. The BJP did not have numbers. Horse trading is evident. All resources were employed by the BJP to win the seat. They bought votes,” Kichloo said.
He said those who voted for the BJP after committing to the NC should reveal their names. “We will identify these legislators who voted for the BJP after pledging to vote for the NC. They have back-tracked, he alleged.
“The NC’s votes remained intact, as witnessed by the election agent who saw each polling slip. There was no cross-voting from any of our MLAs so the questions arise — where did the four extra votes of the BJP come from? Who were the MLAs who deliberately invalidated their votes by marking a wrong preference number while voting? Do they have the guts to put their hands up and own up to helping the BJP after promising us their votes? What pressure or inducement helped them make this choice? Let’s see if any of the BJP’s secret team own up to selling their souls,” he asserted.
