JAMMU, Oct 27: DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, inaugurated the 3rd edition of the J&K Master’s Cup T20 Cricket Championship at MA Stadium, Jammu. The event is being organized by the Veterans Cricket Association (VCA) J&K, featuring participation from eight veteran teams.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Satpal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, J&K Sports Council; K S Jamwal, Chairman, J&K Rifle Association; and Vivek Suri, General Secretary, Veterans Cricket Association J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, the DIG said that the tournament’s theme “Let’s Play for Passion” aptly reflects the spirit of sportsmanship. “Such tournaments provide a platform to players of yesteryears who are above 40 years of age and inspire the younger generation when they see their fathers and uncles showcasing their talent,” he said.
Vivek Suri highlighted that the Veterans Cricket Association J&K has created an exclusive ecosystem for veteran cricket in the Union Territory by regularly organizing tournaments. He shared that the Association recently conducted the first-ever bilateral Veterans Cricket Tournament between Jammu and Kashmir, held at the JKCA Ground in Kashmir.
He further announced that the Association is preparing to host the prestigious 3rd edition of the National-level Veterans T20 Cricket Tournament, which will witness participation from veteran players from UK, Canada and Dubai.
