India, Belarus discuss increasing bilateral trade and manufacturing cooperation

MINSK, Oct 28: India and Belarus held the Eighth Round of Foreign Office Consultations in Minsk during which they discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including political, economic, cultural, tourism, education and consular matters.
The talks were co-chaired by Secretary West Sibi George and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Evgeny Shestakov.
“Both sides discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including political, economic, cultural, tourism, education and consular matters. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the MEA spokesperson said in a post on X.
According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the talks covered the issues related to Belarusian-Indian relations, including the development of political dialogue, increasing mutual trade and manufacturing cooperation, expanding the legal framework, bilateral interaction within international organizations, cooperation with the Eurasian Economic union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and BRICS, and promoting the establishment of direct bilateral contacts in humanitarian areas.
“The two parties noted the significant intensification of bilateral contacts amid the current geopolitical turbulence in the world, which confirms the high level of mutual trust and support between the parties, and also provides a basis for further intensification and expansion of bilateral ties,” it said.
They also exchanged views on a number of pressing issues on the regional and global agendas.
Both sides noted that the existing potential for bilateral cooperation is not being fully realized and that there are a wide range of areas of mutual interest.
Later, Secretary West Sibi George was received by the Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov. The two sides noted the dynamic development of cooperation between Belarus and India in key areas, including political, economic, humanitarian, and others, it said.
According to the Indian Embassy in Belarus, Secretary West Sibi George also interacted with Indian students studying medical science at the Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU), Minsk. Secretary (West) also met Mr. Sergei Rubnikovich Rector of BSMU, who reaffirmed their commitment to the students’ wellbeing and academic excellence.
Secretary West will be participating at the 3rd International Conference on Eurasian Security to be held from October 28-29. (UNI)
