4th Ladakh UT Taekwondo C’ship concludes

KARGIL, Oct 28: The 4th Ladakh UT Taekwondo Championships 2025, organized by the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, concluded at the Sports Authority of India – STC, Kargil, with over 100 athletes from both districts participating across various age and weight categories.
The event was conducted under the technical supervision of event Director Zaheer Abass Khan and observed by Mohd. Ali, Special Observer from SAI. The concluding ceremony was graced by Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon as chief guest, Joint Director YSS UT Ladakh Tahir Hussain Zubdavi as guest of honour and ASP Kargil Nitin Yadav as special guest.
Other dignitaries included President Ladakh Taekwondo Association Gulzar Hussain Munshi, General Secretary Anayat Ali Shotopa, President District Olympic Association Kargil Syed Mehraj Uddin Shah and Vice President Ladakh Amateur Boxing Association.
Dr. Akhoon congratulated the athletes for their achievements at national and international platforms and announced a Winter Sports Academy for Drass and Zanskar, along with plans for a modern Sports Academy in Kargil on 500 kanals of land. He handed over 100 Taekwondo mats and sensor socks, worth Rs 5 lakh, to Gulzar Hussain Munshi.
Joint Director Tahir Zubdavi appreciated the association’s achievements, noting five State Awardees, over 50 black belts and numerous national and international players. Medals and mementos were presented to all winners and officials, marking a proud milestone for Ladakh’s sports community.
This Championship further strengthens the UT’s vision of integrating sports and youth development, inspiring young athletes to excel at higher levels.
