JAMMU, Oct 28: Renowned artist of international repute, K K Gandhi, had the honour of hosting students from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the “Bandhan” Cultural Immersion Program, a visionary initiative conceived by Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu.
The visit aimed to provide students with an authentic cultural learning experience, fostering a deeper understanding of Jammu’s rich artistic and ethnic heritage. At KK Gandhi’s art studio, the students had the unique opportunity to witness the artist’s creative process up close.
Gandhi, celebrated for his exceptional portrayal of Dogra culture, regional heritage, and the enchanting landscapes of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, offered valuable insights into his art and inspiration. His on-the-spot live painting session captivated the students, each of whom received a personally signed painting as a memorable keepsake.
In a gesture of traditional hospitality, Gandhi treated the students to an authentic Dogra meal, served on the customary “Binna”, reflecting the warmth and simplicity of Dograculinary culture. The immersive experience allowed students from diverse parts of India to connect deeply with the region’s traditions and artistic spirit.
Following the traditional meal, the students joined Gandhi on the rooftop of his studio for a joyful kite-flying session, a customary activity in Jammu during festive seasons. The vibrant kites soaring against the city’s skyline added a colourful touch to the day, symbolizing free- dom, joy, and togetherness.
The cheerful atmosphere perfectly complemented the spirit of cultural exchange and celebration.
Later, the students shared their enriching experience and the gifted artworks with Prof B S Sahay, acknowledging the profound impact of the visit on their cultural understanding.
