In an advisory issued by Inspector General of Police (Traffic) J&K, Vivek Gupta, only downward traffic heading from Srinagar to Jammu will be permitted on both days to ensure a smooth passage for Government officials and convoys transporting vital records from the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar to Jammu.
The advisory categorically states that no upward movement of vehicles from Jammu to Srinagar will be allowed on November 1 and 2, including heavy motor vehicles, paramilitary forces, and any other Government convoys. The measure, officials clarified, is temporary and aims to guarantee a safe and congestion-free transit for essential movements linked to the Durbar Move.
To closely monitor the traffic situation, Traffic Control Rooms established in Srinagar, Ramban, Udhampur, and Jammu will remain fully functional round the clock throughout the restriction period. The police have appealed to motorists to plan travel well in advance and refrain from unnecessary movement on the specified dates.
The advisory further mentions that emergency vehicles or essential services will be granted permission only after securing prior approval from the Traffic Headquarters. The public has been urged to cooperate with enforcement agencies and adhere to the issued guidelines to ensure hassle-free travel and overall safety during the restricted days.
