AIZAWL, Oct 29: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, on a visit to Mizoram, gave a major push to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the upcoming by-election in the Dampa constituency.
Leading from the front, Dr. Jitendra Singh chaired a strategy meeting with senior BJP leaders and state office bearers, including the State Party President K. Beichhua, to review preparations and boost the morale of party workers ahead of the November 11 polls.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh urged the party cadre to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development to every doorstep in Mizoram. He said that while several states across the country have witnessed remarkable transformation under the Modi government in the past 11 years, Mizoram has not been able to gain its full share of benefits due to the absence of a BJP government in the state. “Wherever there has been a double-engine government—both at the Centre and in the State—the pace of development has been faster, implementation has been smoother, and benefits have reached the last person in the queue,” he said.
Dr. Jitendra Singh’s remarks struck a chord with party workers, who responded with enthusiasm to his call for strengthening the BJP’s base in the state. He urged them to take the message of good governance, transparency, and last-mile delivery to every voter, and to explain how Mizoram stands to gain by joining the national mainstream of development under the Modi Government’s policies.
The Minister’s visit is being seen as a significant morale-booster for the BJP cadre in Mizoram, where the party is steadily expanding its footprint. The meeting also reviewed campaign logistics and grassroots-level coordination, with Dr. Jitendra Singh stressing the importance of connecting personally with voters and highlighting the Centre’s welfare schemes in the fields of infrastructure, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
As the by-election draws near, the BJP is positioning the Dampa by-election as more than just a local contest—it is being framed as a choice between continued isolation and integration with the national growth story.
Dr. Jitendra Singh’s appeal for a “double-engine Government” has set the tone for the final phase of campaigning, signaling the party’s intent to make deeper inroads in the Northeast and ensure that Mizoram becomes an equal partner in India’s development journey.
