HARIDWAR, Oct 29: Union AYUSH Ministry, Patanjali Research Institute, NABARD, Bharuva Agri Science and others under the scheme ‘Healthy Earth’ jointly organised a two day workshop on soil health which concluded here today.
Aim of the workshop was to strengthen the permanent agriculture system and long term food security across the world.
Many farmers, researchers, agriculture experts and others joined the workshop and discussed issues related to soil health management and to improve soil quality.
Patanjali University Vice Chancellor, Acharya Balkrishan welcomed all the invited guests by giving them mementoes after which the ceremonial lamp was lit and a team led by Chander Mohan recited the group song.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. A.K Mehta, Director, Patanjali Organic Research Institute.
Speaking on the occasion Acharya Balkrishan said the excessive use of chemicals has badly affected the soil health and the results of this will badly affect the coming generations.
He stressed on the promotion of organic farming so that the soil may regain its lost health and nutrients.
Swami Ramdev Ji while speaking on the occasion stressed on exploring the secrets in Vedas and said that these spiritual texts are not only limited to the knowledge of life but also contain in-depth knowledge about nature and many other things using the scientific base.
He highlighted the role of scientists for strengthening soil health.
“The Patanjali made automated soil testing machine is working good as far as fertility of the soil is concerned,” Swami Ji maintained adding that the agricultural practices based on bio-diversity are key to success in the present world.
ICSR Deputy General Manager, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Dr. Pradip Sharma, former VC of SKUAST Jammu, ICSR Bhopal Chief Scientist, Dr. Sanjay Srivastav, Dr. T.J Purkaysth, Dr. R.K Setia, Prof. Namdev, Dr. Baljeet Singh, Dr. G.P Rao, Dr. J.N Raina, Dr. Gulshan Kumar Dingra and others were also present on the occasion.
