Hiranagar police arrests drug peddler, seizes 5.88 grms of heroin

KATHUA, Oct 30: Continuing its campaign against drugs, Hiranagar police, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, have arrested a drug smuggler and seized 5.88 grams of heroin from their possession. Police also seized the smuggler’s motorcycle.
Police said on October 28, a team from Hiranagar Police Station, (PS) led by Inspector, Ashish Sharma and under the close supervision of SP Operations, Kathua, Mukund Tibrewal and SDPO Border, Dheeraj Katoch, set up a checkpoint in the Hiranagar area to monitor suspicious activities.
During the checkpoint, a man riding a motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK08P-6251 was stopped and questioned, police said. He was identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Darshan Lal, resident of Kattal Gujran. During the search, 5.88 grams of a narcotic substance, Chitta, was recovered from him, it added.
In this regard, FIR No. 153/2025 was registered at Hiranagar Police Station under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and the accused was arrested on the spot, it said.
