SNA, JKAACL organize special event titled “Praatigya”

JAMMU, Oct 31: The Sangeet Natak Akademi, (SNA) in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) jointly organized a special event titled “Praatigya – A Series of Experience Sharing by Stalwarts in Performing Arts” here today.
The programme featured three luminaries of Indian performing arts, Padma Shri Balwant Thakur, Khem Raj and Maharaj Krishan (Hari Kishen) Langoo.
“Praatigya” is a distinguished initiative of the SNA launched in May 2024.
The series invites eminent artists, scholars, Akademi Fellows, Awardees and Padma Award recipients to engage with students, research scholars and faculty members of performing arts institutions through discussions and demonstrations.
The ceremony was attended by Dr Javaid Rahi, Anil Tickoo and Deepak Joshi along with distinguished dignitaries and eminent artists.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr Javaid Rahi highlighted the significance of “Praatigya” in fostering dialogue between masters and learners and in preserving India’s vast and vibrant legacy of performing arts.
Padma Shri Balwant Thakur, internationally acclaimed theatre director, playwright and cultural visionary from Jammu and the Founder of Natrang, has revolutionized the theatre movement in J&K.
Khem Raj has showcased the folk dance traditions of Jammu & Kashmir at major national festivals.
Maharaj Krishan (Hari Kishen) Langoo is a recipient of a Citation by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (2009) and the State Award (2016).
The programme concluded with the felicitation of the honoured guests and participating artists, acknowledging their outstanding contribution to the field of performing arts.
Deepak Joshi presented the Vote of Thanks.
