JAMMU, Nov 8: KB Public Higher Secondary School, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau, organized a Substance Abuse Awareness Programme aimed at educating students about the harmful effects of drugs and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The event was graced by Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, MP (Rajya Sabha) as chief guest and Shiv Kumar Sharma (DIG) as guest of honour. They were received by school and GDCT dignitaries including Haji Abdul Hamid Chowdhry, Haji Arshad Ali Choudhary, Ch. Bashir Ahmed Noon, Ch. Shouket Javed, Mohammad Sadiq Azad, Mohammad Taj Chowdhry, Ch. Mohammad Aslam Gheghi, and Gulam Rasool, along with community members.
The programme began with sapling presentations, symbolizing growth and commitment to a better future, followed by a welcome speech by Principal Nehreer Khan. Students performed a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak and delivered speeches in Urdu and English emphasizing the theme: “Awareness is the Best Prevention.”
Eminent speakers included Dr. Suleman Chowdhary, Dr. Shazia Chowdhary, Ajay Sharma, Anwar-ul-Haq, Ch. Iftikhar Ahmed, Ch. Khalil Ahmed Poswal, Shiv Kumar Sharma (DIG) and Gulam Ali Khatana (MP), who highlighted the importance of education in combating substance abuse.
During his address, the chief guest Ghulam Ali Khatana announced a school development grant and an ambulance. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Arshad Choudhary, emphasizing collective responsibility in building a drug-free future.
