*Haryana secures 2nd place, KVS 3rd spot

JAMMU, Nov 13: In a moment of immense pride, Jammu and Kashmir created history by clinching the overall Championship title at the 69th National School Games U-19 Boys Taekwondo Championship, held at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, here.
The J&K contingent delivered an outstanding performance, securing a total of eight medals including 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze and amassing 36 points to emerge as the undisputed champions. Haryana finished runners-up with 3 Gold and 1 Silver medal (26 points), while Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) took third place with 2 Gold medals and 14 points.
In the fiercely contested Under 51 kg category, Sudhir Kumar of Jharkhand bagged Gold, while Mohammad Hadi of Jammu and Kashmir earned Silver. Sumedh Mukesh Jadhav (Maharashtra) and Sajal Kumar (Vidhya Bharathi) settled for Bronze.
The medal-winning heroes from Jammu and Kashmir included: Shivansh Rajput (Gold, below 45 kg), Mohit Anthal (Gold, below 55 kg), Ayaan Mahajan (Silver, above 78 kg), Mohammad Hadi (Silver, below 51 kg), Nasir ul Islam (Bronze, below 59 kg), Harris Gulzar (Bronze, below 48 kg), Saksham Sharma (Bronze, below 68 kg), and Arsalan Wazir (Bronze, below 78 kg).
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, who presented medals and trophies to the winners. She was accompanied by Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director, YSS Jammu and Organising Secretary; Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (Activities); and Parichay Mishra, Field Officer, School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
Describing the victory as a proud and historic moment, Anuradha Gupta lauded the players’ hard work, coaches’ dedication, and departmental support throughout the event. Earlier, Vinakshi Koul welcomed guests and highlighted the department’s commitment to providing excellent facilities and arrangements for participants.
