Dhammi people construct road voluntarily

UDHAMPUR, Nov 16: The residents of Panchayat Dhamma in Udhampur East constituency under the leadership of senior leader, Pawan Khajuria joined hands and donated hundreds canals of land to construct one kilometer road voluntarily as the Government has failed to construct same in the area despite repeated pleas by the people to concerned authorities.
The people of the area were facing many hardships without a motorable road in reaching other parts of the district or their fields. The residents of the area who took the initiative requested Khajuria to lead them in construction of road.
Addressing the gathering Pawan Khajuria, said that elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years gap. He said with many big promises leaders became legislators, and a Government was formed afterwards. Yet, even after a year, problems remain the same and people’s sufferings were not alleviated. It seems that the big promises made regarding development have turned hollow after just one year.
He said tired of waiting for development, the local residents have taken the initiative to construct this road themselves. He appreciated this gesture of the people.
Khajuria said that he is visiting many areas of this Assembly constituency, and the same problem exists in almost every village. In several villages, residents have united to construct roads on their own.
He said the local residents of Panchayat Dhamma too were disappointed with the attitude of the Government and they collected funds for the construction of nearly one kilometer of road and donated hundreds of kanals of land for social service, ensuring people can reach their destinations and fields without difficulty.
Khajuria also highlighted that the roads damaged by recent heavy rains have still not been repaired. Many villages remain without electricity. He urged the Government to take the problems of villagers seriously.
He was accompanied by former Panada Sarpanch, Rajesh Kumar Raju, former Naib Sarpanch, Bodh Raj, Rahul Gupta, Kuldeep Kumar Thodu, Mukesh Verma, Munish Verma, Vishu Verma, Mukesh Singh, Darshan Kumar, Naresh Singh, Des Raj, Bhagat Master, Krishna Lal, Makkhan Lal, Sanjeev Kumar, and others.
