Srinagar, Nov 18: Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari today expressed concern over the emergence of “white-collar radicalisation” and urged the Centre to identify and address its root causes.
Addressing a press conference, Bukhari condemned the recent car blast in New Delhi and voiced concern over reports that well-educated individuals were involved.
He stated that while the perpetrators must be punished, outreach, dialogue, and “winning hearts” were equally important.
“The attack was horrific, and the toughest possible punishment must be ensured for those responsible. At the same time, New Delhi must examine the root causes that lead white-collar individuals to join such terror activities,” he said.
He added that these causes must be investigated, understood, and effectively addressed to “prevent radicalisation and ensure such incidents do not recur.”
Bukhari was speaking after chairing the party’s working committee meeting, convened to review major political, social, and economic challenges in J&K.
During the meeting, party leaders unanimously passed a resolution condemning the Red Fort blast and urging the Centre to initiate meaningful public outreach and dialogue in J&K to ensure long-term peace.
The resolution strongly condemned the Delhi blast, expressed sympathy for the bereaved families, and demanded the strictest punishment for the perpetrators.
It also expressed grief over the Nowgam Police Station explosion, demanding compensation for victims and those whose houses were damaged, along with an inquiry into its cause.
The resolution expressed deep concern over the involvement of well-educated individuals in the Delhi blast and called for an investigation into the “root causes of white-collar radicalisation,” emphasizing the need for both firm action and people-centric outreach.
It also asserted that the “mistrust” between New Delhi and the people of J&K must be bridged, calling for the fulfilment of the Prime Minister and Home Minister’s commitments to initiate dialogue.
