JAMMU, Nov 22: NHPC Regional Office, Jammu organised the UT Level Painting Competition on “Energy Conservation”, here today. Held annually under the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, the event aims to spread awareness on the importance of energy conservation.
After short listing paintings at the school level, 100 students—50 each from Group A (Classes V–VII) and Group B (Classes VIII–X)—participated in the UT-level competition at NHPC Regional Office, Narwal. In Group A, Rajveer Singh won first prize, followed by Virajay Singh and Ananya Chauhan. Group B winners included Wamika, Bhavish Singh Manhas and Adarsh Bhagat.
Executive Director Ram Swaroop’s message highlighted that saving electricity is equivalent to generating it. A five-member jury comprising Milan Sharma, Santosh Raj Tiku, Jang S. Verman, Akram Khan and Rohit Verma evaluated the entries. Satnam Singh, GM (C) and R.P. Maurya, GM (HR) distributed certificates and prize money in the presence of Nodal Officer Rajnish Kumar, NHPC staff, students, teachers and parents.
