SCSSC organizes inter-school competition to promote Dogri

JAMMU, Nov 23: The Senior Citizen Service Support Club Chowadi organized “Dogri Sarvshreshth Tara – Season 2 Competition” to promote the Dogri language among students through various events, including inter-school competitions.
A total of 25 schools participated, with 643 students competing. Out of these, 150 students qualified for the first round. In the first round, three groups of 50 students each were formed, from which only 15 students advanced. In the final round, three students were selected for the first, second and third positions.
The aim of the event was to spread awareness about the mother tongue Dogri and to encourage its use among the younger generation. The grand finale of this programme was held today at Government Polytechnic College (Boys), Jammu, where cash prizes were awarded to the winners.
To begin the programme, Dr. Kasturi Lal, Chairman of the Senior Citizen Service Support Club, provided an overview of the necessity to promote Dogri and to incorporate it in day-to-day life. He emphasized that doing so will give visibility to our mother tongue and instil a sense of pride among all Dogras.
Padma Shri Prof Lalit Magotra was the chief guest. He inaugurated the function and appreciated the team of the Senior Citizen Service Support Club for their relentless efforts and remarkable contribution to society. He stressed that it is the need of the hour to make the masses, especially the youth, aware of the importance of using the Dogri language regularly.
The competition was judged by prominent personalities, including Yash Pal Yasy, Sushil Bhola, Prof Padam Dev Singh, and others. 1st, 2nd and 3rd cash prizes were distributed among the winners by Usha Gupta, Trustee of Lajwanti Medical Trust.
Dr Vijay Sharma, General Secretary of the Senior Citizen Service Support Club, delivered the vote of thanks. Distinguished personalities present on the occasion included Padma Shri Mohan Singh Slathia and other dignitaries from the Senior Citizen Service Support Club.
Kailash Langer (Patron), H C Vaid, N D Sharma, Rajneesh Gupta, Rajneesh Anand, Chaitanya Sharma, Col Satish Magotra, B B Sharma, Dr Shafika Bano, Suresh Dogra, Vandana Mani, Anju Bansal, Prof B C Sharma and others praised the Club for its consistent contribution to the promotion of Dogri.
