SMVD Sangarsh Samiti to submit petition to President over MBBS seats issue

JAMMU, Nov 25: Newly formed Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangarsh Samiti has announced to submit a petition to the President of India over the issue of SMVD Medical College seats.
Talking to media persons, here today, President of the Sangarsh Samiti, Col (Retd) Sukhbir Singh Mankotia said that a petition, duly signed by prominent citizens and Hindus will be submitted to President of India, Droupti Murmu for ensuring MBBS admissions in SMVD Medical College to devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi only as the institute is being run by donations received from Hindus and without any Government funding.

He further informed that the process of forming district level units of Sangarsh Samiti across Jammu division is nearing completion, which will be followed by series of dharnas, protests and media conferences for a mass movement over the issue of MBBS seats in SMVD Medical College.
Col Mankotia reiterated the demand for cancellation of seats made in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence at Kakryal, Katra which admitted 42 non-Hindu students in its maiden MBBS batch of 50.
“However, the Samiti is not against students as they qualified on merit and we will ensure that their careers are not harmed,” he added.
Other members of the Sangarsh Samiti, including Parshotam Dadhichi (President of Sanatan Dharam Sabha), C M Seath (former Chief Conservator of Forest), R K Chhibber (former Chairman of J&K Bank) were also present in the press conference.
