A spokesperson said the charge sheet in FIR No. 15/2025 under Section 420 of the IPC has been submitted before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Pulwama, against Riyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar, a resident of Naroo Ratnipora, Pulwama. HC Riyaz Ahmad Dar of IRP 21st Battalion (Belt No. 53/IRP 21st Bn, ARP No. 993957), was alleged to have exploited his position as a police official to deceive aspirants seeking Government employment.
According to the spokesperson, the case was initiated after EOW Srinagar received what it described as “credible information” alleging that Dar was taking money from people with the false assurance of providing Government jobs. “Acting upon the input, a preliminary inquiry was launched at Police Station EOW Srinagar,” he said.
The investigation revealed that Dar had allegedly collected money from several individuals and “dishonestly induced them into believing that he had the influence and resources to secure appointments for them in government departments.” The spokesperson said evidence collected during the probe confirmed that the accused “deliberately targeted job seekers and took advantage of their aspirations and trust.”
According to the spokesperson a formal case was registered at the Police Station Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar. He said the agency has now established prima facie that Dar’s actions constitute offences punishable under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, relating to cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. “The chargesheet has been produced before the Court for judicial determination, and further legal proceedings will follow as per law,” he said.
