JAMMU, Nov 30: Jammu & Kashmir produced a stellar all-round performance to defeat Bihar by 34 runs in an exciting encounter of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy at Eden Gardens, Kolkata today. The victory was powered by the explosive batting of Qamran Iqbal and the lethal bowling of Aquib Nabi, highlighting J&K’s growing prowess in the T20 format.
Batting first, J&K posted a competitive 159 runs, with Qamran Iqbal scoring a scintillating 64 off 40 balls, including 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. Key contributions also came from Yawar Hassan and skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan, who scored 27 runs each, alongside Abdul Samad’s 16, providing a strong platform. Bihar’s bowlers, including Sahib Hussain, MD Izhar and S Gani, took 2 wickets each, while Khalid and Suraj Kashyap chipped in with one each.
In reply, Bihar struggled against J&K’s disciplined bowling and were bowled out for 125 runs. Akash Raj top-scored with 28, while Suraj Kashyap (21) and Pratap and Bipin Sourabh (19 each) offered resistance. Aquib Nabi was the star with a devastating spell of 4 wickets for 16 runs, supported by Yudhvir Singh and Murugan Ashwin (2 wickets each) and Umran Malik taking a crucial wicket.
Brig Anil Gupta lauded the team’s cohesion and individual brilliance, noting the explosive batting of Qamran and accurate bowling of Aquib as the hallmarks of the match.
