JAMMU, Nov 30 : Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit chief Manish Sahni today demanded that all educational institutions, including the medical college run by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), should be declared as Hindu Universities and an 80% quota should be fixed for Hindus in these institutions.
Addressing to the media persons, Sahni stated that protests against the majority of seats given to other communities in the medical college run by the SMVDSB are natural.
He said, “The Government’s silence is fueling this protest into a movement. They should find an immediate solution, taking into account our religious beliefs. To prevent this from happening in the future, educational institutions run by the SMVDSB should be granted Hindu educational status and a special quota.”
“Granting minority status is not the solution. Jammu and Kashmir lacks a Minority Commission and despite Hindus being a minority, their status has not been declared. Consequently, the majority enjoys all the privileges afforded to minorities. The University run by SMVDSB should be directly granted Hindu University status and 80% reservation for Hindus,” he asserted.
