Brig Usman Premier League commences

RAJOURI, Dec 1: The Brig Usman Premier League (BUPL) commenced its 2025-26 season with a grand inaugural ceremony at Nowshera, marked by wide participation from military, civil and community representatives. Brigadier Shubhankar Ghoshal, Commander 80 Infantry Brigade, presided as chief guest, while former MLA Ravinder Raina, ASP Baljeet Singh, SDPO DySP Sahil Mahajan, SHO Inspector Arjun Mangotra and school principal Sudesh Sharma were present.
The event opened with an energetic cultural performance by students of Third Millennium Public School, showcasing local talent and enthusiasm. Brigadier Ghoshal unveiled the championship trophy, interacted with players and urged them to uphold discipline, sportsmanship and unity.
He emphasized the Indian Army’s commitment to nurturing youth in border regions. Former MLA Ravinder Raina praised the Army’s dedication and encouraged young players to embrace patriotism and contribute to nation-building.
The opening day featured two thrilling matches. Sikh Cricket Club posted 118/4 in 15 overs, but FCC Bajabain chased the target with ease, scoring 122/4 in 12.3 overs, powered by Ranjeet Singh’s unbeaten 91, earning him Man of the Match.
In the second match, Rajput Cricket Club scored 104/8, but Lam Cricket Club reached 105/7 in 14.3 overs, with Irfan Khan named Man of the Match. With 16 teams participating, BUPL continues to promote peace, sportsmanship and community harmony across Rajouri district.
