JAMMU, Dec 1: The Ex-Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) Welfare Association today urged the Government of India (GoI) to address the long-pending grievances of serving and retired CAPF personnel and ensure parity in benefits with defence forces.
The appeal was made here during a press conference held on the 61st Raising Day of the Border Security Force (BSF).
VK Sharma, retired DIGP and Chairman of the Association, paid tributes to BSF martyrs and saluted the Veer Naris for their courage and resilience.
He praised the BSF’s role in safeguarding the nation and congratulated its officers and jawans for their dedication to the force’s motto, “Duty unto Death.”
Sharma said that despite being recognised as Armed Forces of the Union, personnel of BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles are still governed by different service and post-retirement rules, leading to disparities in benefits.
He pointed to a 2012 Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) order directing States and UTs to extend benefits to CAPF personnel at par with ex-servicemen, and urged full implementation of these directions.
The Association also raised concerns over pending issues related to the 7th Pay Commission, stating that arrears of 18 months are yet to be released, affecting nearly 65 lakh Central Government employees.
They demanded early clearance of dues, introduction of One Rank, One Pension (OROP) or a similar structured benefit for CAPF personnel, and settlement of all arrears and family-related claims by December 2025.
Senior members Harinder Mahajan, Kirtan Singh, Darshan Chauhan, Harbans Lal, Noor Mohammad, Insp. Yash Pal, Nannu Thappa, Lovely Pandita, and Harvinder Kour joined the appeal, calling upon the Centre to ensure justice, dignity, and long-overdue parity for CAPF personnel.
