RAJOURI, Dec 1: In strict enforcement of the prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate Rajouri regarding the ban on the use of all types of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) within the district Rajouri, the police registered two separate cases after individuals were found violating such order here today.
A police spoikesman said that during a routine naka, a police team from Manjakote apprehended one person namely- Mohd Nasar, son of Mohd Yakoob, resident of Dheri Raylote who was found using a VPN application. In this regard, FIR No. 107/2025 U/S 223 BNS has been registered at PS Manjakote against him.
In yet another incident, Darhal police during naka rounded up one Mohd Mukhtar, son of Mohd Taj, aged 38 years, hailing from Madhoon, Dodaj in Rajouri. He was found in possession of a mobile phone with VPN application in this regard. A case FIR No. 73/2025 U/S 223 BNS has been registered against him at Police Station Darhal.
The general public has been advised to strictly adhere to the restrictions imposed and refrain from using VPN services in violation of the DM’s directions, the official said.
