Police solves theft cases in Sopore

Srinagar, Dec 1: Police in Sopore today solved two theft cases by arresting the accused persons and recovering stolen property.
In the first case, Police Station Bomai received a complaint from Abdul Rashid Mir, resident of Nathipora, regarding theft from his shop (Al-Fajar Departmental Store).
A case (FIR No. 60/2025) under Sections 305, 331(4) BNS was registered and investigation initiated.
“During enquiry, several suspects were examined, and on November 29, 2025, one suspect-Ghulam Mohammad Lone, son of Abdul Jabbar Lone, resident of Yahama Handwara-was detained for questioning,” police said.
The accused confessed to the crime and disclosed that the stolen items were concealed in an orchard near the river at Nathipora. The stolen property was subsequently recovered.
In another incident, the Police Post Bus Stand received a complaint from Ghulam Mohammad Kanjwal, resident of Sir Syed Abad, regarding theft of cash from his bakery shop.
FIR No. 268/2025 under Sections 305, 331(3) BNS was registered.
“Within 12 hours of the offence, the accused Shakir Sadiq Bhat was traced and apprehended from the premises of SDH Sopore,” police said.
He confessed to the crime and the stolen cash was recovered accordingly, police said.
