JAMMU, Dec 1: Dr Parikshat Singh Manhas, Professor in The Business School and School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu, has been appointed as Director, Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), University Grant Commission, Government of India.

As Director of CEC, Prof Manhas will lead one of India’s most important higher education communication bodies responsible for conceptualizing and delivering quality digital content, educational media, SWAYAM MOOCs, and ICT-enabled learning innovations across university systems.
His appointment comes at a time when CEC is undergoing strategic renewal aligned with NEP-2020’s vision of technology-driven, learner-centric, inclusive, and globally benchmarked higher education.
The appointment of Prof Manhas as new Director of CEC for a period of five years, was announced today and he is the first person from Jammu & Kashmir who has been appointed to this prestigious position. He replaced, Prof Jagat Bhushan Nadda.
With over two decades of distinguished service in higher education, policy innovation, and digital learning ecosystems, Prof Manhas has earlier served as Chairman, Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) and Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K.
Recognised globally for his scholarship in Virtual Collaborative Environments, Education, sustainable tourism, destination branding, and Educational development, Prof Manhas has held prestigious international roles, including Co-Leader, UNWTO Working Group on Tourism & Culture Synergies and Regional Director – Asia & Eastern Europe, World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (UNWTO Affiliate). He has also served as Visiting Professor in Russia, Hungary, Peru, and Malaysia, deepening academic diplomacy and global collaborations.
Talking to the Excelsior, Prof Manhas outlined the key priorities under his leadership, which include Quality Content Production, Technology Modernisation, Institutional Collaboration and Outreach and Inclusion.
