JAMMU, Dec 1: A joint meeting of the representatives of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangarsh Samiti, Sanatan Dharma Sabha, and the Jammu Kashmir Sanatan Samaj Nyas was convened here today to formulate a unified strategy against recent policy decisions of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).
The meeting expressed deep concern over the alleged disregard for Sanatan Dharma principles and the purported misuse of devotee funds in the institutions managed by the Board, particularly its medical college.
The leaders unanimously resolved to escalate their ongoing movement until the Shrine Board’s policies are fully aligned with the spiritual and cultural sentiments of the Hindu community.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Mahant Rameshwar Dass said: “The sanctity of the Shrine Board’s institutions must reflect the faith that funds them. When the conduct within these educational bodies deviates from the principles of Sanatan Dharma, it represents a deep failure and betrayal of trust. We demand an immediate course correction to uphold the religious integrity of these establishments.”
Mahant Rajesh Bittoo stated that the offerings of devotees are consecrated funds meant for pious purposes and it is unacceptable that these resources are allegedly being utilized to sustain an environment where activities contrary to our values are reported. “Every devotee has the right to know why their offering is being used in a manner that causes distress rather than promoting virtue,.” He added.
Col Sukhvir Singh Mankotia, Convenor of the Sangarsh Samiti, demanded an immediate meeting with the Core Group to discuss the way forward, the next strategy, so that the Aastha of the people is protected.
The allied bodies pledged their full support and commitment to the ongoing struggle initiated by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti and announced that the community leaders will meet with influential spiritual figures, including those presiding over religious platforms, to integrate these concerns into religious discourses and determine a collective way forward.
Mahant Ramnarayan Das Shastri (Vice President), Mahamantri Mohan Bharti and Swami Somanand Maharaj, resolved to continue their struggle until the Shrine Board’s policies are realigned with community sentiments.
Parshotam Dadhichi ( President Sanatan Dharam Sabha), Shilpi Verma, Deepak Gupta, Parbhat Singh, Sanjay Gupta, Abhishek Gupta, R K Chibber, Baldev Singh, and others were also present in the press conference.
Meanwhile, Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) today staged a strong protest demonstration condemning the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) for alleged discriminatory and insensitive admission process in the Medical College run by the Board.
A large number of YRS volunteers participated in the protest, raising slogans and demanding an immediate review of the admission list. The protest was led by President YRS, Mandeep Singh Rimpy, who said that the Shrine Board owes its existence to the faith, devotion, and offerings of the Hindu community, and therefore any institution run by the Board must first safeguard the rights and aspirations of Hindu youth. He demanded formulation of mandatory provisions ensuring priority to Hindu students, not only in the MBBS programme but in all academic and professional streams run by SMVDU.
Rimpy warned that if corrective measures are not taken, YRS will be compelled to intensify its agitation across the Union Territory. Rajan Singh Happy and Vikram Singh Vicky also addressed the gathering.
Sunil Dimple, president of Mission Statehood also held a protest demonstration over the controversy surrounding MBBS selection list at SMVD Medical College.
