Shopkeeper stoned to death

RAJOURI, Dec 1: A shopkeeper was stoned to death in remote Khodbanji area under the jurisdiction of the Police Post Teryath and Khawas Outpost in Rajouri district, here this evening.
The incident took place around 6 PM when the alleged assailant entered the shop and hit the victim with a stone following some altercation. The deceased was identified as Manzoor Hussain (40), son of Qasim Din, who was running a Photostat shop.
Reports said that after a brief altercation over some issue between the deceased and accused at the shop, the latter, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, picked up a stone and hit the shopkeeper on head.
On sustaining severe head injury, Manzoor Hussain fell unconscious while the assailant fled away from the spot. The victim was taken to the Government hospital in Kalakot, where doctors referred him to GMC Jammu because of his critical condition. However, he succumbed to his injuries on way to Jammu. The body has again brought back and placed in the mortuary at Kalakot Hospital, where it will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem Tuesday morning, said BMO Kalakot, Dr Iqbal Malik.
Police have registered the murder case against Mushtaq Ahmed, who is allegedly suffering from a mental illness.
