Amendments in reservation to cut quota of RBA, EWS is anti-poor step: Front

JAMMU, Dec 3: A meeting of General Category People’s Front (GCPF) was convened by Raj Kumar Banathia, Front chairman to discuss the report of Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) and ongoing struggle launched by the Sangarsh Committee and illogical admissions in medical institution run and funded by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Addressing in the meeting, the Front vice chairman, Jadish Dogra alleged that the CSC report has failed to address the issue of general category youth.
“Amendments in reservation rules to cut the quota of Resident of Backward Areas (RBA) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories are against the poor and genuine deserving people,” he maintained adding: “J&K Government has failed in raising open merit percentage to 50 per cent as recommended by the Supreme Court of India.”
Other speakers said amending reservation rules to promote political agenda ignoring basic principles of equality, justice is of no use.
The Front members pledged full support to the ongoing struggle initiated by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangarsh Samiti, against the policy decisions of the Shrine Board.
Yash Paul Sharma, Front president and Som Nath Sharma, general secretary also spoke in the meeting.
