JAMMU, Dec 5: The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) today organised its first ex-servicemen job fair at the Tiger Division in Jammu, marking a major step toward helping Armed Forces veterans find meaningful second careers.
The fair served as a dedicated platform to connect trained and disciplined ex-servicemen with employment opportunities across various sectors.
A large number of ex-servicemen and soon-to-retire personnel attended the event, reflecting their strong interest in continuing to contribute to nation-building after retirement.
Nearly 50 well-known corporate houses from sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, IT, logistics, security and services set up recruitment stalls.
Companies like HDFC Life Insurance, KIA Motors, Tata Motors, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Canara Bank, Aditya Birla Capital, Bajaj Allianz, MG Motors and Hyundai Motors offered a wide range of job roles suited to the veterans’ experience and skills.
Senior officers, including the General Officer Commanding Gurj Division, Major General Rahul Ohri, senior commanders from the Army and Air Force, and officials from the Rajya Sainik Board, attended the fair.
Although the online registration portal had been open since 6 November, special arrangements were made under the Tiger Division to ensure that non-registered ex-servicemen could also participate.
The event highlighted the growing collaboration between Government agencies and the corporate sector in supporting veteran resettlement.
Recruiters and candidates engaged in detailed discussions, with several veterans shortlisted for immediate placement and many others considered for upcoming selection processes.
The initiative strengthened DGR’s efforts to bridge the gap between the veteran talent pool and India’s expanding industries, setting the stage for more such job fairs in the region.
