Soldier dies in landmine blast

SRINAGAR, Dec 16: An Army soldier died in a landmine blast in the Kupwara district.
Havildar Zubair Ahmad of the Army’s 13 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was injured in a land mine blast at Putaha Khan Gali in the Trehgam area of the border district on Monday, they said.

Officials said the injured soldier was rushed to a military hospital at Drugmulla but was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the passing away of Havildar Zubair Ahmad of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI), who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Havildar Zubair Ahmad succumbed to injuries sustained during a road construction blast on December 15 at Putaha Khan Gali in the Trehgam area of Kupwara district.
“The nation is forever indebted to the selfless service and supreme sacrifice of Havildar Zubair Ahmad. He served with exemplary courage and commitment towards the nation. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
