14 bovines rescued, 2 vehicles seized

UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: Police foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling at Chenani and rescued 14 bovine animals even as smugglers managed to escape.
Reports said that a police party of Police Station Chenani led by SHO, Raghuvir Singh while performing naka checking duty at Motor Shed Naka, NHW Chenani, intercepted a Mahindra Bolero Pickup bearing registration number JK19A-6018, which was coming from Udhampur towards Srinagar.
The driver stopped the vehicle a few metres away from the naka point and fled from the spot. On checking of the vehicle, 10 bovine animals were found loaded in a cruel manner without valid permission. Police rescued the animals and registered a case in this connection.
In another success at Motor Shed Naka, NHW Chenani, Police signalled to stop a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14K-1765, coming from Udhampur towards Srinagar. The driver stopped the vehicle a few metres away from the naka point and fled away from the spot.
During checking, 04 more bovines were found loaded in the vehicle in a cruel manner for illegal smuggling purpose towards Kashmir. In this regard, FIR No.132/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Chenani and investigation is underway.
