In the first case, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of CBK filed a chargesheet in a fake railway job scam in FIR No. 08/2025 under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC before the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Beerwah, Budgam.
The chargesheet names three accused – Abdul Hamid Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh of Chewdara, Beerwah; Adil Shah, son of Abdul Rashid Shah of Sonwar, Srinagar, presently residing at Zewan; and Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar, son of Mohammad Ashoor Kumar of Hib-Dangerpora, Sopore, presently residing at Rutsuna, Beerwah.
According to CBK, the case originated from a written complaint filed by Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar, who had alleged that Abdul Hamid Sheikh and Adil Shah provided him with fake appointment letters purportedly issued by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), New Delhi.
The forged letters bore fabricated seals and signatures of the Deputy General Manager, Northern Railway, Paharganj, New Delhi.
“During investigation, it was prima facie established that the accused persons conspired with each other, lured victims on the pretext of providing Government jobs and extracted substantial sums of money,” CBK said, adding that official verification confirmed the appointment letters to be fake and forged.
Significantly, investigators also found the complainant, Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar, to be actively involved in the commission of the offence.
“Investigation revealed that he himself took money from other victims on the false pretext of providing employment and issued fake job orders to them,” the agency said, noting that his role surfaced during the probe, establishing his active participation in the criminal conspiracy.
Based on the evidence collected, the final report under Section 173 CrPC has been presented before the court for judicial adjudication, CBK added.
In a separate case, the Special Crime Wing of CBK filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 05/2020 under Section 420 of the RPC before the Court of Sub Judge (13th Finance), Srinagar, against Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, son of Shamsudin Shah, a resident of Saloora, Ganderbal, presently residing at Cooperative Colony, Peerbagh.
