JAMMU, Dec 21: Modern Montessori International (MMI) School, Jammu, celebrated its Annual Day today at the Convention Centre with the theme ‘Tiny Dreams, Big Wonders’, showcasing students’ creativity, talent and holistic development.
The event was graced by Education Minister Sakina Itoo as chief guest. Other dignitaries present included ex-Minister and senior NC leader Ajay Sadhotra and Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sakina Itoo lauded MMI School for recognizing teachers’ dedication and contributions through awards. She said, “Teachers play the most vital role in shaping the future of students. Today, the toughest task is making children future-ready, and our teachers are fulfilling this responsibility with commitment, hard work and passion. Both private and Government schools share the duty to address new challenges in education, while parents play a crucial role in guiding and supporting their children. Over the past year, the Government has worked to revamp the education system in J&K, and private institutions must align with these efforts to ensure quality learning.”

She further emphasized that students in J&K are not lagging behind and continue to excel in various competitive exams. She highlighted the importance of strong teacher-student relationships, parental involvement and nurturing a supportive learning environment.
Principal Poonam Sharma presented the Annual Report, highlighting a year of learning, creativity and resilience. She said students made remarkable progress in language, numeracy, sensorial learning, and practical life skills through Montessori activities, hands-on exploration, and individualized attention. She noted that teachers attended online and in-person workshops organized by the Singapore and Delhi Head Offices to stay aligned with global Montessori standards. Carefully planned lessons, balanced meals and table manners lessons ensured overall development. Despite school closures due to adverse weather, learning continued online.
The programme featured vibrant performances, including toddlers’ and playgroup parades, Little Seed Dance, Best Days of My Life, Chote Chote Tamashe and several other presentations, leaving the audience and dignitaries spellbound.
During the occasion, awards were presented by Minister Sakina Itoo to Eshita (Best Teacher), Ritu (Dynamic Teacher), Pooja & Ujjwal (Best Pre-Nursery Class), Surbhi and Nagina (Awards of Appreciation), and Mehak Gupta (Best Manager).
Promoters Kamal Rohmetra and Neeraj Rohmetra, Director Sapna Rohmetra and Manager Mehak Gupta were also present on the occasion.
The Annual Day concluded on a high note, reflecting MMI School’s commitment to holistic Montessori education, combining academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and physical and social development for every child.
