JAMMU, Dec 24: A delegation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu headed by its president Arun Gupta today called on JMC Commissioner, Devansh Yadav and discussed various issues including the issue relating to operation of business in contravention to the Municipal Corporation Act 2000.
During the interaction Gupta apprised the Commissioner JMC that a number of shopkeepers have been issued notices by JMC to produce some documents like land document, copy of building permission, site plan, photograph of building, NOC from neighbourer, public notice in local daily newspaper, identity proof, parking plan and copy of any document indicating date of establishment of the activity to obtain NOC from Jammu Municipal Corporation.
He urged that for small traders especially those who have in business for 25-30 years, providing these documents is nearly impossible.
Arun Gupta also briefed the Commissioner JMC regarding the issue of sealing shops by JMC and the issue relating to parking facility at Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar.
While reacting to the issues raised in the meeting Commissioner JMC expressed a willingness and acknowledged that small shopkeepers should not be harassed, this is our prime motive, but at the same time our primary goal is to manage traffic movement in the business zone rather than simply penalizing old establishments
Further, he assured the delegation that JMC would take a lenient view of the existing documents checklist.
He further said that we will convene a meeting with the contractor of the parking areas at Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar to resolve the said issue.
Yadav further said that JMC has now allowed construction area from 1.8 FAR to 2.4 FAR. This change allows for significantly more build up area on the given plot of land providing more vertical space for business and residential structures expand legally.
The other office bearers who accompanied the delegation include Anil Gupta, senior vice president; Rajeev Gupta, junior vice president; Manish Gupta- secretary general and Rajesh Gupta- treasurer.
