JAMMU, Dec 26: Director, Social Welfare Department , who is also holding the additional charge of Managing Director (MD), Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation, today reviewed the overall functioning of the district offices of the Corporation across the Union Territory.
During the review, the MD took serious note of the poor recovery of overdue loan amounts compared to current dues. He directed all district officers to accord top priority to the recovery of overdue amounts and ensure that the backlog is cleared by the end of the financial year 2025-26.
The MD also reviewed the progress of cases sponsored during the current financial year and expressed concern over the low number of cases sponsored against the prescribed targets for 2025-26. The Deputy General Managers of Jammu and Kashmir divisions assured that the targets would be achieved by the close of the ongoing financial year.
On the issue of appointing legal counsel at the divisional level, raised by the officers, the MD assured that the matter would be resolved at the earliest. While acknowledging the concerns regarding acute manpower shortages in several districts of both divisions, he stressed the need for enhanced efforts in loan recovery and sponsorship of cases with the existing staff strength.
Taking note of the non-conduct of Project Implementation Committee (PIC) meetings in some districts for the selection of prospective beneficiaries, the MD instructed that such meetings be convened without further delay. He further directed that Unit Establishment Reports of units, where loan disbursement has already been made, must be submitted within one month.
The meeting was attended by district officers and other senior officers of the Corporation.
