Besides Sangharsh Samiti office bearers, several BJP activists, trade leaders, representatives of Bar Association and various social organizations joined the protest.
Even as heavy posse of Police personnel was deployed outside the Lok Bhavan to maintain law and order, fierce protest led to chaos like situation amid slogan shouting and clashes between protesters and cops.
While controlling the porters, a female cop sustained minor injuries. Identified as Head Constable Manorma Devi (45), posted at Police Station Pacca Dange, she was admitted in GMC Hospital Jammu for treatment.
Led by Sangharsh Samiti Convener, Colonel Sukhvir Singh Mankotia and Shree Sanatan Dharma Sabha President Parshotam Dadhichi, the protest saw the participation of Chamber of Commerce & Industries President Arun Gupta, Bar Association Vice President Adv Baldev Singh, Yuva Rajput Sabha President Mandeep Chib, YRS former President Rajan Singh Happy, Working President of Shri Sanatan Dharma Sabha Prabhat Singh, Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha’s Narayan Singh, Chamber and Trader Federation President Neeraj Anand, and Trader Federation Ware House Nehru Market’s Deepak Gupta, along with representatives from various social organizations and hundreds of local citizens.
While addressing the gathering, Col Sukhvir Singh Mankotia said that they have staged the protest outside the Lok Bhavan because Lt Governor is the Chairman of the shrine board and it is his responsibility to ensure that the religious sentiments of any community should not be hurt.
“We will continue our protest till the resolution of our genuine demands which are related to our faith. We are not against students of any particular religion, we just want the seats in the medical college to be reserved for Hindu students alone,” he said and added that the Government should close the medical college if there is any problem in reserving the seats for the Hindu students.
Parshotam Dadhichi challenged the Government, stating that followers of Sanatan will no longer remain silent and will ensure full accountability. He warned that if the MBBS seat issue is not resolved immediately, a massive agitation will follow that neither the LG nor the CM will be able to contain.
