Worker of RDSS Company electrocuted

RAMBAN, Dec 28: In a tragic incident here today, a young worker at RDSS Company, working for the maintenance and up-gradation of power infrastructure in the area, died of electrocution while on duty.
Sources informed that the deceased was identified as Mumtaz Ali, 19, resident of Dacchan Gool, Ramban district and he died at Moila Gool area during an incident that occurred on Saturday afternoon when some workers were erecting an electric pole which accidently fell on transmission wire passing through the area.
The incident raised concerns over the alleged negligence by the power authorities.
Locals claimed that the contractor and concerned officials of Power Development Department (PDD), Gool, failed to ensure proper maintenance and adherence to the prescribed safety norms, resulting in the fatal electrocution.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Police Station Gool registered an FIR with No. 92/25 under Section 106(1) of BNS against the accused persons.
Police officials said an investigation was underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
Family of the deceased and locals of the area demanded strict legal action against those responsible for the death of the worker.
Meanwhile, DDC Chairperson Ramban, Dr. Shamshada Shan has expressed concern and shock over the death of the worker.
She demanded suitable compensation in favour of the deceased’s family.
