Christmas Gold Cup Football: JKP XI triumph in tie‑breaker

JAMMU, Dec 29: In the ongoing 19th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament 2025 at Mini Stadium, Parade Ground, Jammu, the first semi-final between Kashmir Elegant FC and J&K Police XI ended in a dramatic 2‑2 draw, with J&K Police XI advancing 6–4 in the tie‑breaker shootout.

Aqib of Elegant FC opened the scoring in the 1st minute, putting his side ahead early. J&K Police XI responded with Mansoor Ahmed equalising in the 40th minute and Hajit Bashir taking the lead in the 61st minute. Elegant FC’s Imtiaz scored from a penalty, levelling the match and forcing the tie‑breaker.

In the shootout, J&K Police XI held their nerve to secure victory. A yellow card each was shown to Jahangir Ahmed (J&K Police) and Hazik (Elegant FC) during the match.

The semi‑final clash was witnessed by chief guest Sandeep Singh, spokesperson of the National Conference, along with dignitaries including Anil Masoom, Charanjeet SingH, Amandeep Singh, Ramesh Chander, David Masih, Sodagar Mattoo, Yousaf Don, Peter Sandhu, Kamaljeet, Rajesh Sumbria, Rattan Lal and Sebastian. The match was officiated by referees Dheeraj Menia, Ajay Singh, Aman Sudan and Kartik Sharma.
