NEW DELHI, Dec 29 : Senior BJP leader and Seh-Prabhari Kathua District, Sanjay Kumar Baru today called upon Ashish Sood, Minister for Home, Education, Power, Urban Development, Higher Education, Training & Technical Education, Government of NCT of Delhi.
He discussed several issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir, with special focus on the challenges faced by students from the region pursuing education in Delhi.
During the meeting, Baru highlighted that a large number of students from Jammu & Kashmir come to Delhi every year under various scholarship schemes to pursue higher and professional education.
He informed the Minister that many students stay in Delhi for months and even years and due to the acute shortage of student-friendly housing facilities, they are often compelled to spend considerable time and resources searching for accommodation.
This, he said, adversely impacts their academic focus and overall well-being.
Baru further urged the Minister to consider the creation of designated residential accommodations or hostels for students from Jammu & Kashmir in Delhi, so that they can pursue their studies in a safe, secure and conducive environment without unnecessary stress.
Ashish Sood listened patiently to the concerns raised by the senior BJP leader and appreciated his proactive approach towards student welfare.
The Minister reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance and student-centric policies and assured that the matter would be examined seriously in coordination with the concerned departments.
